WHEN TO WEAR A COMPRESSION GARMENT?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Most surgeons advise patients to wear medical compression garments for several weeks after surgery<\/strong>. Some patients may need to wear the garment day and night, while others may need to wear it for a few hours during the day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

HOW LONG SHOULD THE COMPRESSION GARMENT BE WORN?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The surgeon<\/strong> will determine the exact length of time that a compression garment<\/strong> should be worn following surgery.<\/p>\n

It is recommended to wear a compression garment for 4-6 weeks after liposuction<\/strong> to minimize post-operative swelling and prevent rippling.<\/p>\n

Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 After abdominoplasty<\/strong>, which is an extensive operation, it is often recommended by surgeons to wear a lap belt for up to 6 weeks after the procedure to control swelling<\/strong> and help the scar tissue to distribute properly.
\u2022 After a breast augmentation,<\/strong> a postoperative bra is most often recommended for 2 to 3 weeks<\/strong>. This will support the breast tissue and keep the implants in the right position during the adaptation and healing phase of the tissues.<\/p>\n
